Professional Singing Lessons
Featuring Voice Training and the Art of Performing

Hi, I'm Allyson Starr!  8

Are you looking for the right place to learn how to sing and perform?  Want to choose, learn and rehearse a song for your Demo?  Just want to knock out your friends and family the next time you join them in "Happy Birthday"?  Do you dream of Stardom or do you only want to sound better in your shower?  You've come to the right place! 8

Exactly what will I teach you?  How to sing and how to perform.  Knowing how to perform is vital.  A beautiful voice, isn't enough.  When you are on stage, you have to know how to grab an audience and hold them.  I will show you methods of developing your stage presence and ways to eliminate stagefright.  I will share with you the performing tricks that  I have discovered (and invented) throughout my career in Show Business. Each of my Students receives individual attention.  In my Studio, you will be singing with a live pianist, who will play the songs you want to sing, each in the key that sounds best.  You will sing the songs you want to sing, especially arranged for you to make them your own. 8

I believe that great singers are made, not born.  Vocal techniques and projection are learned.  Vocal range is expanded by the correct exercises.  Breath control is a matter of learning and practice.  Pacing and phrasing are invaluable tools for a singer.  Nobody is born with these skills.  You were born with potential.  If you're smart, you find the right somebody who can show you how to protect the voice you were born with and make it better.  And better.  And great!  That's what I'm here for! 8

You will be doing so much more than vocal exercises every week.  Your exercises will be taped during your first lesson, so that you can practice at home.  Nobody should spend an entire one-hour lesson just singing scales.  Of course, the first few minutes of every lesson will be devoted to exercising your voice, since I will need to guide you, to be certain you are singing correctly.  And then for the rest of  your lesson, we will work together on turning songs into amazing performances.

It should never hurt to sing.  If your throat hurts after you sing, you are doing something wrong.  If you become hoarse after you sing, you are doing something wrong.  Correct vocal production is the key to effortless, painless singing. 8
