Allyson Starr has made dreams like those come true for countless New Yorkers for over thirty years.  In her Studio on West 57th Street, Allyson Starr teaches voice and more than voice.  Allyson turns words, music and dreams into brilliant performances.

There is more to performing than great singing.  There is an Art to Performing. 

Yes, Scales Are Important

But you won’t be singing scales during your entire lesson!  Lessons begin with about 10 minutes of vocalizing in order to warm up your voice and so that Allyson can make certain you are on the right track.  More extensive exercises are put on tape so that you can vocalize at home (4 times a week is recommended).

Singing to Real Live Music

No pre-taped music with Allyson.  She has her own pianist who will be your pianist.  Each song you learn will be put in your key and arranged for only you.  And then put on tape for you to practice with at home!

Why Spend a Fortune on Sheet Music?

Allyson has a library of sheet music which she will lend to you so that you can copy whatever songs you wish.  Of course you can bring in any of your own music!

Why sound like somebody else?  You have your own sound, your own style.  Allyson helps you discover it.

Allyson will help you develop it and demo it!

Create Your Own Nightclub Act and Perform It! 

What songs should you  choose?  In what order should you sing them?  Why are the words you speak between songs what really “makes” your Act?  Once you’ve got your Act, where do you perform it?  Allyson will be with you every step of the way right up to your opening night!
