Tyrell Johnson [Student since 2008]:

“My goal was to get a demo done. I didn’t know where to go or where to send it. I didn’t even know what to sing! Allyson led me step by step through the process of choosing the right song for me and arranging it the best way to show off my voice. I had some ideas for an original song, but I had no idea how to make it happen. Allyson worked on it with me, and by the time I did my demo, I was singing my own song!”

Maria Gonzalez, [Student since 2006]:

“Last month I did my Act at a prominent nightclub in midtown Manhattan. Me! It began with a list of songs I wanted to sing. Allyson and I picked twelve from the list and she started working on the songs with me. Allyson wrote lines for me to say in-between the songs so the songs would flow seamlessly into each other.  I was invited to the Studio free of charge for that! The booking and arrangements with the Club Owner were made by Allyson. I spent weeks rehearsing my Act and learning microphone techniques until it was letter-perfect.  There I was, standing on the stage, in the spotlight, in front of a live audience, just like I had always dreamed. Before I had a chance to get nervous I remembered some of Allyson’s techniques to kill stage fright before it can start.  The music started playing and I was singing right on cue. It was exactly like we had spent months rehearsing only it was better because there was applause after each song. Sixty minutes went by so fast!  Ten songs and two encores later I got a standing ovation.  Me!”

Laura Hunt [Student since 2009]:

“I auditioned for Rent last week. I wanted to sing a song from the show, but I didn't know a song from the show all that well. So I got the music and brought it to the Studio and rehearsed that song for two solid hours with Allyson. We turned that song upside down and inside out. I was so grateful I had a great place to learn it! Working so hard that day at the Studio made all the difference cause guess what? I nailed that audition!”
